Adjectives describe nouns or follow linking verbs like be, look, or smell.Compound adjectives combine two or more words into a single descriptive unitβusually joined by hyphens when they come before a noun.
Compound adjectives are multi-word descriptors that act as one idea. They are typically hyphenated before a noun, but often written separately after a verb.
π‘ Hyphens prevent confusion!
Even if the meaning is plural, the noun part stays singular because adjectives donβt have plural forms in English.
Longer compound adjectives are also hyphenated as a single unit.
