Verbs Used to Talk About Clothes

Wear vs. Carry

We use 'wear' for items on the body (clothes, glasses, jewellery). We 'carry' items we hold or transport (bag, umbrella).

  • β€’ Sara is wearing a new dress.
  • β€’ Why are you carrying an umbrella?
Match vs. Go well

'Match' means same/similar colour. 'Go well' means look good together (not necessarily same colour).

  • β€’ Your orange socks match your orange shirt.
  • β€’ Pink and green go well together.
