🟦What Are Dependent Prepositions?

Some adjectives are usually followed by a specific preposition. These are called dependent prepositions. You must learn them together because the preposition depends on the adjective.

✅ She is addicted to coffee.
✅ He is angry with his brother.
✅ We’re excited about the trip.

Common Adjective + Preposition Combinations

🔹 to

She is addicted to coffee.
He is very close to his grandmother.
This recipe is different to/from the one I usually use.
It’s important to be kind to animals.
My aunt is married to a musician.
It’s not nice to be rude to strangers.
Your handwriting is similar to mine.

Smoking is bad for your health.
Italy is famous for its delicious food.
Walking is good for your heart.
I am sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Adjectives often require specific prepositions — these are called dependent prepositions.
