📖 Narrative Writing – Exercise 2

Narrative Tenses (B1+)

📚 Instructions: Read the story. For question 1, choose the correct answer.
You can use each verb form only once — but here, focus on which tense tells the main story sequence.

Last night, I was walking home when I saw a car running very fast towards a red light. I looked at the driver and I could see that he was talking on his phone. He didn’t stop at the traffic light, and another car crashed into him and killed him. When the police arrived they asked me what had happened and I told them that the driver hadn’t seen the traffic light because he was on his phone.

1. Which of the highlighted verbs are used to describe the events of the story in chronological order?
